MAGNA

Permanent magnets are used in a multitude of applications. Because each type of magnet has its own distinct properties, it is important that you choose the right magnet for the right job.

Magnets can be separated into two main different groups: Sm-Co-magnets and Nd-Fe-B-magnets. Sm-Co-magnets are known for their resistance against heat and rust. Nd-Fe-B-magnets are more powerful than Sm-Co-magnets, but do not possess the same high resistance to temperatures and are more prone to oxidisation and corrosion.

Bossard offers a very wide assortment from the Japanese brand Magna:

Samarium-Cobalt Magnets
These are powerful magnets which are resistant to rust and high temperatures.

Ferrite magnets
Ferrite Magnets possess excellent anti-corrosion properties, are relatively good value, and have no demagnetisation. Because the ferrite magnets are a durable and stable ceramic, they suffer from virtually no rust formation and are suitable for flat shapes.

Neodymium magnets
This type of magnet has the strongest magnetic field.

Alnico magnets
Alnico magnets are strong, extremely heat-resistant, and have a high flux density (a measure of magnetic field strength). These are cast from an alloy consisting of aluminium, nickel and cobalt. They are more easily demagnetised, but they have a high heat resistance (Curie point of 850°C)
